Crowdsourcing metadata quality improvement

This project is drawn from findings from metadata quality and Linked Data challenges work and seeks to leverage crowd-based efforts to solve the pressing problems of metadata quality impeding forward motion in libraries, archives and museums

Research plan

My current focus is on addressing the challenges of data normalization and consistency for historic print publications, particularly serial works.  While issues around ambiguity, inconsistency and inaccuracy continue to impact metadata for digital collections, the library community would derive considerable value from a consistent, detailed and open dataset of serial publication information as well as a technique (e.g. crowdsourcing) that can help them align their own data with this dataset.
